Portfolio.com released their list of “The Top 100 Fun Cities” in the United States today, and you may be surprised where LA landed. Although it’s in the top 10, and higher than more predictable places like Las Vegas (only 26th!), LA is still behind NYC, Chicago, Boston, and Miami to come in at number 5.
The rankings are based on shopping, gambling, culture, popular entertainment, food and drink, and both low and high impact sports. LA ranks high in almost every category except gambling and both types of sports. However, some factors that probably also should have counted? Weather, nearby vacation spots, and attractiveness of population.
I get Miami and NYC coming in higher than LA. But the others?? Am I missing something? Oh well, I guess we’ll just have to live with knowing we’re less fun than Chicago or Boston. Next February, when I’m laying at the beach with a margarita in hand, and gossiping about a celebrity that just passed me by, I’ll remember these rankings.
