Grab Some Grub: Kay N’ Dave’s

Yes, Kay N’ Dave’s does have multiple locations – but their newest, and grandest, in Culver City, is the one that stands out of the pack. While they recently closed down their Pico location, two others exist in Brentwood and Pacific Palisades. While those are family-friendlier, Culver City represents a rowdier restaurant, seemingly more interested in the margarita and happy hour crowd rather than the pre-bedtime crowd.

Kay N’ Dave’s is known for their light Mexican fare – made fresh and healthy, without any prepared ingredients and as calorie-conscious as possible. While they do have lighter options such as protein-rich grilled chicken tacos, a lime-cilantro salad, and egg white breakfast choices, keep in mind that it is a Mexican restaurant, after all. So, while caring about your wasteline may be the reason you came to eat healthy-mex, chips, guacamole, and margaritas will be the reason you stay. And after a few drinks, you may even want to indulge in some of the guiltier (but tastier items) such as the chicken mole tacos, carnitas, or tamales.

Kay N’ Dave’s is definitely not traditional Mexican, and it’s far from being the healthiest place in town, but it is a decent compromise between the two worlds – and certainly one worth trying. After all, who passes up the opportunity for another margarita?

Kay N’ Daves is located at 9341 Culver Blvd. in Culver City. The restaurant can be reached at 310.558.8100.
